Spilluka ("Games Week") proudly invites to the 2nd Norway Open Stratego Championship and Barrage tournament in Arendal.

Format
Five rounds of swiss system.  This is an official tournament, played by the rules of the International Stratego Federation.  It will also count for the International Stratego Ratinglist.  

Who can participate?
The tournament is open to players of all levels, but knowledge to the rules is required.  
Recommended age: 10 years and older.

For new players there will be a chance to learn the rules and practice the day before and earlier in the week. 

You're also welcome to participate in tournaments in other games, such as chess, Othello, Risk, Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Rummikub etc.  The complete schedule will be ready around Jan. 20th.

Entry / registration
We advice players to register as soon as possible, but it will also be possible to register from 11-12 a.m. at the day of the tournament.   

Entry fee
None!  All free!  

Prizes
Prizes for the top 3 + best Norwegian player and best junior player (born 1995 or earlier). And maybe some more....

How to get to Arendal
You can get to Arendal by car, bus or train, or by boat or airplane to Kristiansand (1 hour drive from Arendal).

You may also go by airplane to Torp/Sandefjord (2 hour drive from Arendal), where there are direct flights from Bremen, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Kiev, London and more.  There are bus lines to/from Arendal every hour, but if your flight arrive later than 21.00, other transport has to be organized.

Accommodation
Private accommodation is limited, but there are some hotels within 200 meters from the playing site:

Thon Hotel Arendal

Order yourself if you want to stay in a hotel.  Be warned that the hotel prices are quite stiff (aorund NOK1000/EUR100 a night). 

But there's also Hove Leirsenter at Sandum, an old military camp with beautiful surroundings 12 km outside the city center.  They provide cheap accommodation in barracks.  There are buses to the city center every hour.  Hove Leirsenter charge NOR120/EUR12 a night. 

There'll also be a small one-time charge of about NOK150/EUR15 per person for end cleaning and bed linen.  Meals are not included, but catering can be organized.  Catering prizes is NOK55 for breakfast, NOK55 for lunch and NOK93 for dinner per person.

Contact Vidar Aas (contact information below) as soon as possible if you want to stay at Hove. We have to know who will be staying there by February 1st. After that date there will also be a fee for cancellations.
